A/Prof Sarah Norris

Associate Professor Sarah Norris is a member of the Medical Services Advisory Committee (MSAC), the Deputy Chair of the Evaluation Subcommittee of MSAC, and a member of the New South Wales Health Genomics Steering Committee. Sarah has extensive experience in health technology assessment (HTA) and leads the Knowledge Systems for Policy Action Research Theme at the Menzies Centre for Health Policy and Economics. She has a deep understanding of the Australian health system, public and private sector funding arrangements, and the role of different types of evidence in decisions regarding health service funding. Sarah has shaped national approaches to HTA for emerging technologies, including contributing to the development of a HTA tool for genetic predisposition testing, and the development of a pragmatic approach to the assessment of FDG-PET in rare cancers. Sarah is currently leading a four-year Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) project (gEnomics4newborns) on integrating ethical and equity considerations in assessments of the use of genomics in newborn screening for rare conditions.
